Piero Lissoni 2018
The elegance of the Grasshopper Dining Table is derived from its distinct combination of slender surfaces in soft organic forms and a high-performance steel structure. The tabletop’s thin edge evokes a feeling of weightlessness and adds an equally refined touch to the home or office.
After the success of the 2004 Divina Collection, Knoll and Lissoni came together to introduce the Grasshopper Tables. Together, with the KN Collection and Avio Sofa System, the designs reflect Lissoni’s nuanced sense of proportion and minimal aesthetic.
Originally debuted at Salone del Mobile 2017, the Grasshopper Tables – which come in a high and low version – boast a clear, geometric aesthetic and visual weightlessness characteristic of Lissoni’s versatile style. Of the designs, Lissoni commented, “Grasshopper borrows its name from the animal that has precision tools for legs...Equally long, incredible and perfectly functional. Above them sits a top so thin that it looks [as if it is] able to life and take to the air.”
With offices in Milan and New York, Piero Lissoni is an international designer who brings a tailored approach to architecture, furniture, interiors, and graphic design. He describes his work as “clean and more or less silent,” which he achieves through proportion, harmony, and minimalism.
