Knoll Designer Bios

Christa Hausler Goltz

Christa Häusler-Goltz was working as freelance textile designer in Germany when she met Suzanne Huguenin, the former Knoll Textiles design director. While visiting Huguenin in New York, Häusler-Goltz showed her portfolio to Barbara Rodes-Serger, then the vice president of design for Knoll Textiles. Liking what she saw, Rodes-Serger invited Häusler-Goltz to design a collection for the company.

In designing her textiles, Häusler-Goltz has always put a special emphasis on the harmony of form, color and material. Her Knoll prints, introduced in 1977, reflect this philosophy, featuring dominant geometric shapes and color gradation. The collection included Aquarelle, Pyramid and Benday as well as five burnouts — one velvet and two chintz drapery fabrics.
