One of Spain's most lauded industrial designers, Josep Lluscà has built a career blurring the boundaries between science and art, with works that extend beyond furniture and into industrial applications, such as applied electronics, lighting, toys and urban facilities. Lluscà attended the Escuela de Diseno Eina in Barcelona as well as the École des Arts et Metiers in Montreal before becoming a freelance designer.
Very much an environmental designer, Lluscà continually addresses the issue of practicality and art in public venues. He has received many prestigious accolades throughout his career, including the American Industrial Design Excellence Award and the National Design Award in Spain. Additionally, his works are in the permanent collections of museums throughout the world.
In 2002 Knoll introduced the Street Stacking Chair, originally designed by Lluscà for Spanish manufacturer Amat-3.
