Klismos® Stool

Designed in 1954 as what Florence Knoll modestly referred to as one of the “fill-in pieces that no one else wants to do,” the Florence Knoll Sofa Collection now stands as a defining example of modern design. Consistent with all of her designs, the Lounge Collection has a spare, geometric profile that reflects the objective perfectionism and rational design approach Florence Knoll learned from her mentor, Mies van der Rohe.

Dimensions

Italian architect Antonio Citterio brings streamlined simplicity to an ancient Greek form with his Klismos seating collection. Crafted from natural materials, the Klismos Stool is made of durable oak and sturdy cotton cord. Precisely woven across the subtly curved frame, the cord creates a comfortable seat, which can be topped with the optional cushion (sold separately). “I particularly enjoy telling the story of this product,” says the designer. “It contains the memory of an icon of classical Greek culture.”
